there's lotS to see and do ON AN ESSENTIALLY BARRINGTON TOUR

Why not get a group together on a coach (see below), or travel convoy-style with friends? We can tailor a tour to include the sort of activities your group would like - farm visits, wineries, restaurants, shopping, or history.

We're happy to hear from coach companies or groups who'd like to see what the Hunter Region has to offer.
See below for an example of places we visit on an Essentially Barrington Tour, and see our sample Tours below.

A DAY IN THE BARRINGTON TOPS

FASCINATING HISTORY

Start the day travelling from Gloucester along the Thunderbolts Way through Barrington. From Barrington we travel along the Scone Road through Copeland, an old gold mining town. (There may be an opportunity to add a tour of the old Mountain Maid gold mine if you wish to extend your visit be another day.) We pass through State Conservation Areas, State Forests and farmlands, where there are spectacular views across the mountains as we approach them.
Arriving at the beginning of the Barrington Tops National Park, we will have morning tea at the Honeysuckle Picnic area, an idyllic spot surrounded by Antarctic Beech, an ancient tree endemic to this area. Native Banksia and Soft Tree Ferns are also there, amongst many other rainforest +ora. Sometimes there are lyrebirds here.

WORLD HERITAGE

Your guide will give you interesting information as you travel along. You will be enthralled by the history of the Gondwana Rain Forests, a World Heritage Area which includes a large part of the National Park.
We pass along to the far end of the park, via the eerie atmosphere of the The Firs, a pine forest on the way to the Dingo gate and the highest point of
Barrington Tops. The awe-inspiring view will remind you how high you are - you are now in sub-alpine country and you will feel the freshness in the air.

PRISTINE RAINFORESTS

We turn around here and travel back to Polblue for a picnic lunch overlookin one of the largest of the many spaghnum swamps in the Barrington Tops. These swamps are the source of the beautiful rivers of the Hunter, Karuah and Manning catchments. There is a walk around the swamp for those who are fit and adventurous! Keep an eye out for brumbies and swamp wallabies in this area.
Add this wonderful day to your itinerary whilst spending several days in the Gloucester area.
